Additional Fitness Weekend Activities
The 2006 edition of the Fifty Plus Weekend/Bay Area Senior Games will include the traditional activities that are popular among its participants:
Walter Bortz, Chairman of Fifty Plus Lifelong Fitness will deliver the keynote speech at a reception at Classic Residences by Hyatt in Palo Alto, on Friday night, March 10, 2006, kicking off the weekend with insights from his best-selling new book, Diabetes Danger.
The Fifty-Plus Health Conference on Saturday, March 11 at Stanford's Annenberg Auditorium features a lineup of experts who will discuss relevant health issues and topics. Plus, an advanced slate of "learn by doing" activities, such as race walking, is included.
Saturday evening's Annual Fifty-Plus Awards Dinner, includes the presentation of the Emil Zatopek Award. The honor, named after the splendid Czech Olympic distance runner, is awarded to individuals who have attained notable achievements in sports, and in doing so have inspired others to live a healthy lifestyle. Last year's recipient was Sir Roger Bannister, the world's first sub-four-minute miler who joined a long list of Zatopek Award notables.
The Fifty Plus Health Fair on Sunday, March 12 continues its popular run with a variety of exhibitors presenting vital health products and services.
