In the summer of 2009 the San Francisco Bay Area will host the National Senior Games - The Senior Olympics, the United States' largest participatory multi-sport event. More than 14,000 athletes will come to Northern California and compete in a variety of sports from swimming to softball, from tennis to track and field. As the excitement about this event is already building, the Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee (BASOC), Fifty Plus Lifelong Fitness, and the California Senior Games Association (CSGA) have joined forces to create an annual opportunity for Bay Area athletes over the age of 50 to prepare for 2009: the Bay Area Senior Games.
Our inaugural event will be held on March 12, 2006 at venues around Palo Alto and Stanford University and serves as a qualifier for the California State Senior Games Championships. The 2006 Bay Area Senior Games will be held in conjunction with the Fifty Plus Lifelong Fitness Weekend.
